Venice Part 3

Our third day in Venice was the 1st February, my birthday. Not just any birthday but my 40th!
We had the day previous prebooked tickets for the Secret Itineraries tour of the Doge's Palace. This takes you behind the scenes and into what was Casanova's cell!

So back to Piazza san Marco we went.

I got told off for messing on my phone! However I still answered all my birthday texts and ofcause the calls from my girls.

The Doge's Palace looked beautiful in the sunlight.

From outside we admired the Bridge of Sighs.

And took in the views whislt we waited for our guide.

Inside was just as stunning.

The "bocca di leone" used for denouncing tax evaders made us laugh, no wonder it's no longer used it would be permanently full!!

As we began the secret part of the tour, once up the lavish Sansovinos staircases cameras were forbiden.

After a tour of the palace offices, hall of chancellery, the state inquisitors room and tourture room we were shown the cells. Then free to explore the palace itself.

It was good to see the Bridge of Sighs from the other side.

Then lunch.

A perfect pizza whilst planning the remainder of the day.
