All in the name of a good cause!

Did you know that today was Rock the Red Pump Day!?!

Well if it hadn't been for Hazel I wouldn't have either!

So for such a good cause I obviously had to wear red shoes!

Now the problem came as my favourite red shoes are these,

Red Shoes from Office. (Xmas shoes 2010)
Not really work material, when you are on your feet all day!

I adore the ruffles at the baack of the shoes!

High heels always make your legs look so much better!
However for opening day speeches and the first hour I battled through

But then comfort won and I had to opt for these instead.

Red velvet bow shoes purchased from America

Yes it created quite a talking point during the day and yes I did get asked by a old man if I had any knickers on! Cause as the saying goes, "Red shoes no Knickers!"
I can assure you they were very much on!

Check out how A Daisy Chain Dream rocked her red shoes too!

Jesting aside what a great idea to raise awareness. I have two daughters who we are luckily able to talk about anything with and this has been a topic that we readdressed last night.

So if you haven't already, pop on a pair of red shoes and raise awareness of national woman and girls HIV/AIDS awareness day.

Forward thinking!

I like to try wherever possible to forward plan.
Birthdays, events holidays and so forth.

So as the next big event is mothers day I just happened to fall into a Past Times store and buy a lovely cushion which sums my mother up to a tea!

Not a truer statement!

And of course I couldn't leave out the dads in the family, even though it's a long way off Fathers day!

The book is for the father-in-law, I am sure he will see the funny side!

And for both hubby, from the kids obviously and again father-in-law,

It contains two of my hubby's favourite things!

Of course his most favourite thing is ME!
Well it better be!

So what forward planning have you done?

The beginning of Lent

Shrove Tuesday,

A yummy day of Pancakes!

The down side?

The beginning of Lent in which I give up somethings I love.

BOO!

This year I shall be giving up, Chocolate, Sweets and Crisps.
However before I begin my 40 days of no good stuff we had a yummy meal.

A starter of Scallops, which I forgot to photograph, sorry. They were very yummy!

Followed by Mussels in white wine sauce and homemade chips.

And to finish it had to be srummy pancakes.
Plain with sugar and lemon for hubby,

And with strawberry sauce for me.

Other things that made me smile today have been a few charity shop find.

A purple bag for £2 to add to my purple craze.

A back leather belt for £1.50

And another silver bracelet 75p.

Along side these two books both cost a total of £1.

But the funniest thing was I brought the same book as my daughter showing great minds do think alike!

Hope you have had a good pancake day.

Things that money can't buy!

Money money money!!!

Sound familiar?

Our whole lives revolve around it whether we want it to or not, but the most important things and sometimes the most enjoyable things in life cost us either nothing or little at all!

So my question would be, "At this precise moment what would you list as three things that money can't buy?"

For me its fairly easy.

Number 1

LOVE

My mom once told me that love soon goes out the window when you have no money and whilst I don't like to disagree with her in the entirety I don't think that statement is totally true! Of course it gets tough but true love will last anything.
My hubby, is for fear of sounding soppy, is my biggest love, but not the only one!

(The warm feeling you get many years after your first kiss when you realize you married the right person.)

My girls are the ones I would catch a grenade for, do anything for and love unconditionally.
(That complete and utter rush of love when you see there tiny face)

(And how proud you feel as they grow into adults.)

Because love comes in all shapes and sizes it covers the true friends you make along the way, they are the family you get to chose. (The ones that stood by your side when you had nothing but them) and then of course their your the family, even if you can't choose who they are!

Number Two

HAPPINESS

Happiness comes in many shapes, sizes and forms.
For me it could be singing at the top of your voice. (Not very well I might add!)

A good meal, even better if it's been cooked with love.

Reaching the top of  a hill in the beautiful British country side.

Pondering the beauty of the world on a nice day

And enjoying a silly moment, just because you can!

Number Three

Seeing a new comment or follower on your blog.

It may sound quite a simple thing but it means that someone not only took the time to visit your blog but to let you know what they think. Seeing that someone would like to follow your blog is a huge boost. It may have been a long time since you started yours but I am sure you can remember that feeling?! So if you have left a comment, thank you for making me smile. And if you have decided to follow, a huge thank you. A stranger is only a friend I haven't made yet, please  don't stay a stranger.

Hello friend.

Turn that frown upside down!

After a some what hectic week I've decided to refocus on the things that gave made me mile rather than frown!

1) Pay day! Yipee!! Not that it lasts very long but never mind.

2) Coming home after a stressful course. Nothing beats seeing the faces of the people you love when your feeling low.
Once little

Now a little more grown up, but still very much a daddys girl

3) Having a long chat on the phone with my mom and my eldest. My mom never fails to make me laugh, even when she's not trying and Kassie always makes you feel loved, bless her.

Xmas Day. Kassie trying to each mom how to play on the Wii

4) Walking through the door to a lovely meal, cooked for me by hubby without any moaning at all. Which considering he's cooked every night so far that's not bad going.

Romantic meal, oh how I'm spoilt!

5) Knowing that I have two whole days off!! To chill, have a lovely evening just hubby and I, plus enjoy the pleasure of the whole families company for a big roast on Sunday. Heavenly!

Just a few of the family that will join us for lunch.
Ashleigh (my youngest) my niece, mother in law, father in law, and two nephews.

So whats made you smile this week?

Cause as the saying goes,
Smile and the whole world smiles with you!
(or even, Smile it makes people wonder what you have been upto!)

Another Day, Another Dollar.

I am so glad to be home. Not that I have been home that much!
I didn't get home until after nine on Tuesday evening and then had along day yesterday too!
Today is not going to be too much better, so roll on the weekend please!

I have totally failed in any training for three peaks this week so far, so tonight I will be hitting the treadmill.
(Picture a demented elephant trying to run, because that's what I look like!)

As for today I actioning training sessions all day.Yesterdays went a little off track due to having an evacuation (a gas leak) and having to sit in McDonald's for an hour!

Today's outfit consists of a bargain dress from New Life in Cannock.

Dress - New Life £8

Shoes - Barretts (years old)
Tights - Wilkos

The detail on the top of the dress gives it a little more interest.
( And yes blue shoes are not really corporate but never mind!)

Jewellery I have kept simple.

Bracelet - Purchase from France

Ring - H&M

Coat - New Life (£11)

Again a little more colour added to brighten up my day.

Hope you are having less busy week than I am.

Home Alone

Well I’m not home alone obviously; I’m at a hotel alone! My loved ones are at home without me!
I know I should revel in the time alone,( enjoy peace and quiet, a double bed to myself and a yummy meal that I haven’t had to slave over,) because let’s be honest it’s not really a luxury a full time working mom tends to get very often! But you guessed it; I’d rather be at home.
Whilst the food was yummy and even better free as the company will foot the bill.

The bed was far too lonely without my gorgeous hubby to chase round it.

The tea and coffee were not my own.

And the bathrooms far too neat. (None of hubbys  smellies and no ones undies on the floor!)

But I did have wander in the rain to try and un-stiffen the legs after the two and a half hour drive, hence the need for a sit down again.

And after a good night sleep I was ready for whatever today threw at me. (And trust me it threw a lot! but more on that another day)

As for now, I'm just glad to be home!
