Work Experience

Can you remember what you wanted to be when you were at school?

I remember wanting to be a nursery school teacher as I loved little kids.

That then changed into a pop star, in fact I wanted to be Madonna!

After realising my singing was pants I then settled on being a hairdresser, which is what I went into once I left school. However when my eldest was on the way I never finished my training and went into the retail sector in order to pay the bills and never left.
Isn't it strange how things pan out?

Can you remember your work experience from school?

Well my youngest has had a week of work experience and because she wants to go into medicine, (she obviously has her fathers brains!) she was well and truly stuck for a placement.

Nowhere to do with medicine will allow a school child anywhere near, so we had to improvise for her.

Infact she ended up going to work at hubby's store..

Firstly let me tell you that she has said for as long as I can remember that she would never, ever work for our company and guess what?

She loved every minute and said she would be happy to work weekends if she can whilst studying!

Here's what she looked like kitted out for work;

Ash with Jude the security guard.

As a thank you they gave her a box of chocolates, she was very pleased.

As you can see from the doodles, lots of hard work was done!
Doesn't seem five minutes since I was dropping her off at nursery!

God I feel old!

The Weight Of The World Upon My........

Hips!

Yes that's right hips!

In a world that shows women stick thin is it any wonder that we all have insecurities about out size?

Now I've never felt that fat but since hubby has lost three stone I've kind of felt the chubby one.

Silly right? I know that's what hubby thinks.

Hubby celebrating in Hong Kong (3 stone heavier then!)

He looks fab. Much younger and healthier, with so much more energy.

Andy after beginning his health kick, celebrating my birthday in Venice

A very trim and fit hubby at the top of yet another mountain!

I on the other hand I feel tired all the time and have a spare tyre hugging my waist.

I'm wondering if I feel so shattered as I've stopped being so active since all my Three Peaks training has stopped. Trouble is I have no get up and go to get back to it.

That said I m going to force myself to.

The diet is back on and the exercise classes are booked. (zumba and boxercise)
Swimming happens every night so I can get at least 20 lengths in which must count for some thing right?

My weight at the moment sits at 11 stone 3.
And my size 14 clothes are feeling a little snug!
I don't want to be skinny I just want to loose the spare tyre I have some how gained.

Any advice would be very much welcomed.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to swimming!

A Touch Of Aztec.

I decided on a little bit of Aztec this morning when I got dressed.

Orange, brown, green and red all seem to be present in this get up.
(Trust me its not quite as horrid as it may sound!)

It has kept me smart and cool.

Only down side is it tends to crease a little!

Top - Next (years old)
Skirt - Primark (years old too)
Sandals - fashion union (gift)

Ever so slightly creased!

This Primark skirt was purchased many years ago and the difference in the quality to the skirts they sell now is vast! It is double lined and a great fabric mix too. Shows how things have changed!

I think the patterning is very Aztec.

The colours are a great mix, it even has gem stones sew into it to.

And in case of an emergency it could always be used as a parachute!

It has tuns of fabric.

And curtsy!
Be great for curtsying.

To finish off I wore my green sandals.

Green sandals and bright pink nail varnish!
I love green.
It's a standing joke in our house how much I like snotty green.

Oh and bows.

So these cover all bases!

Monthy Treats Thrifty Style!

This month is, like most other months is a tight one.
Not only is it a five week month, my least favourite type of month, but also it has birthdays as well as holidays to be pain.

Double bummer!
It’s really not helped that hubby has just booked to go to Vegas next January and that has had to be paid for in full, as he is off with my nephew to celebrate his 21st birthday. On top of that I had booked for my youngest 16th birthday trip, for her and I to go to New York.  Now neither of these trips could be in any shape or form as trifty it’s fair to say.  But the ray of sunshine is that I have been given some inheritance from my aunts estate which will luckily pay for both.
So what are we up to that is thrifty?
Well the first thing happens this weekend, tonight in fact. As a family we are off to an out door concert at Shugborourgh  Hall to a Queen concert.

This is classed as our family outing for the month and as the tickets were a reduced family rate it even means that Ashleigh can take a friend with her. Please keep your fingers crossed for good weather!
The second will be out for a meal with friends to celebrate a birthday.

As we take it in turns to pay this time will be free for us, so definatley a thrify treat!
The third is a little bit of segway racing curtsy of tesco vouchers!

I purchased these as a Christmas gift for Hubby and youngest and they are very excited about it.
We  also have a few National trust visits planned.

Which as we have an annual pass means no out lay on the day.
So whilst we really have no spare pennies we shall still be having a great time.

What does this month hold for you?

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

Another week has passed me by and it's time to reflect on the week that was;

The Good
Catching up with my mom!

Being able to have a mommy hug and a good old natter after what seems like forever.

The Bad
Having to stay away from home.
I am such a homing pigeon it's untrue.

The Ugly
Watching my youngest have to cope with grief.

One of her friends sister has committed suicide aged only 13, due to bullying.
Heartbreaking.

A real roller coaster of emotions this week.

Away From Home Again!

Yep I'm off for a two day meeting which once again means staying away from home.

Bummer!

I hate it.

Yes I get to stay in a nice hotel and yes I get to eat lovely food.

But what I don't get is to snuggle up with my hubby after a hard day and that's my favourite bit.

Never mind.

As it is a full meeting with lot's of people I haven't met before so I will need to give some consideration to my outfit. Plus still making it corporate!

That may take some time!

And tonight I shall once again be staying at Clumber Park.

With a bit of luck they may have some more segway racing on!

Happy Days....

"Aaay!"

After looking at the outfit my realised how much I look like I belong in an episode of "Happy Days" with Fonzie..

Can anyone else remember that?

(Please say yes so I don't feel sooo old!)

Hopefully you will understand what I mean;

T shirt - pull and bear, Jeans - asos

Big hair to go with the outfit.
Looks like I've been swinging my hip!
To me...

To you!

Yey!!

I was having far too much fun if you ask me!

Looks like  a blogger tshirt this, with a girl taking photos!
And the trusty Lee Coopers to finish it off.
